Central Baptist Church Bearden
Annex Renovation
Knoxville, TN
Community Tectonics has served as the architect for all facilities improvements for Central Baptist Church of Bearden for several decades, including classroom additions, fellowship hall and kitchen additions and upgrades, auditorium renovations, youth assembly areas, and several building code upgrade projects.
This current project consists of extensive renovations to the stand alone Central Annex building. Originally involved in the transitioning from an office building to a preschool and weekday children’s program in the 90’s, Community Tectonics has now revisioned the space into a college and young adults facility.
Renovations included extensive interior and exterior improvements. The intent of these renovations was to update the buildings current 1970’s appearance, provide outdoor activity and meeting space, and transition the interior into classrooms and a flexible multipurpose meeting area with stage, theatrical lighting, and sound and operable walls to divide the space into classrooms when needed.
The project created a new entry, relocated existing toilets and developed a Café for use by the classroom and assembly areas. The church will use the space for classes, assemblies, receptions, smaller weddings, and a variety of other activities associated with church life.
