On February 19, 2019 ground was broken for Bristol, Tennessee’s new middle school. The ceremony began with performances by the Vance Middle School and Tennessee High drum lines and the Vance Middle School Honors Choir. More than 60 people watched as 12 students broke ground.
The school is being built on the current site of Vance Middle School on Edgemont Avenue. When completed, the school will total an estimated 154,000 square feet and have a capacity for 1,000 students. The school for sixth through eighth grade features outdoor learning spaces, collaborative classrooms, natural lighting fixtures and updated safety and security features, among other state-of-the-art elements. It is expected to be completed in time for the 2021-22 school year.
